All the recent talk about making (and keeping) resolutions parlays itself into your goals as a new mother. It’s natural to set goals as to what kind of parent we want to be, what type of environments in which we will raise our children, and what values our children should embrace as they grow. While all of these are honorable goals to have, what about goals pertaining to you as a woman that inevitably make you a better mom?
Focusing on the positive aspects of your life, whether it be that you had a spare moment in the morning to relax with a cup of coffee or you made it through the first week of your new workout regime, will make you more inclined to move forward rather than look back. Success is success, no matter if it’s a huge accomplishment or a small step in the right direction.
Some great advice we’ve received recently:
- Find things that add to your energy rather than drain your energy
- Break old patterns that aren’t working
- Stay away from conditional statements like “If I could do this, then I could have that.”
Why is it so important to think positively? For starters, it makes you feel better and reduces stress. For pregnant women, this is crucial as significant stress can lead to premature delivery, among other things. Obvious stress reducers are getting enough sleep, eating healthy, and exercising regularly in addition to the powerful advice we’ve listed above. After all, good health is about more than just nutrition and fitness; it’s also about taking care of yourself emotionally and mentally.
